signed & paid

I went to tour a house yesterday morning - paid the deposit yesterday afternoon:

right by a community garden, several golf courses, and a dog park

$649/mo

i can start moving in March 3rd, but i also have my current apartment until June 1st.

so while i’ll have to pay double rent for a couple of months, i couldn’t get stuck in my current situation.

i’m tired of living in apartments for now and i want space so i can have a dedicated work room, my dog can run around and for some reason, i’m kind of excited to mow.

i’m sure it’ll get old real quick when it’s 103º this summer, but we’ll deal with it then.

the thing i’m most excited about is traveling.

i’m paying $1,134/mo for rent right now so I’ll be saving about $400/mo by moving, and those dollars are going straight to travel.

my original plan was to forgo housing and live in my jeep until I could afford a down payment on a house - but the cost of living on the road while maintaining somewhat of a normal life really isn’t much cheaper than $649/mo between gas, food, and any inconveniences that may happen.

so here we are, moving into my first adult house.

(first) moving day

03/03/23 - because i still have my current apartment, I’m gonna get my money’s worth and bounce back & forth between both until this summer.

so right now, i’m only moving the necessities for now and won’t be fully moved in for awhile.

i like having this much time to change addresses, move stuff, and adjust - i might try to do this again in the future and eat the cost of a few months’ rent.

i think it’s worth it.
