Don't forget to celebrate your wins

Something I find myself often struggling with is being present in the moment.

Since my job involves helping people plan decades into the future and running a business requires you to think about growth and the future impact of decisions, it's hard to turn off that forward thinking and be present and acknowledge where I'm at.

It's so easy to forget to stop and think about how far you've come.

Even if you're not where you want to be yet, acknowledging progress is important in my opinion.

I've failed to acknowledge progress many times and it takes the fun out of the journey.

When you forget to celebrate reaching a goal or accomplishing something, it feels like you're teaching yourself that there's no meaning behind what you're doing. That you're just checking another box and it's time to move onto the next one.

I think this mindset is a one-way ticket to burnout.

So instead, I've tried to become more aware of when I find myself constantly thinking about the future and not being present.

If we're not celebrating our wins, what's the point of accomplishing anything?

I don't really have any tips or advice on how to be better at this since I struggle with it myself, but one thing I've started to do recently is keeping a list of "wins".

Anytime something good happens, I try and write it down to force myself into slowing down and acknowledging things.

It's helped, but I still think I could be better about celebrating and being happy with progress even if I haven't reach all my goals yet.

What do you do to slow down and acknowledge wins while still moving forward?
