Something I've come to realize as I've gotten older is how tough life as a parent has to be and I never appreciated that growing up. I didn't have any perspective or empathy, like most kids.
But now, I can't imagine how hard it would be to see someone you raised for 18 years take off for college or move to a new city.
And I've also become more empathetic towards different beliefs and lessons that our parent's generation has.
Everyone's just trying to do their best and I truly believe that 99.9% of people have a good heart and don't go out of their way to make other people's lives more difficult.
Sure, maybe you haven't agreed with everything your mom or dad has told you or disciplined you for, but they're just trying to do their best.
Take a break from thinking about work or whatever else consumes your daily thoughts and show appreciation, compassion, and empathy today.
You never know when the last holiday or celebration with your parent(s) may be, don't take it for granted.
